A Coefficient Of Friction Tester is a device used to measure the coefficient of friction between two surfaces in contact. This measurement is important in many industries, such as manufacturing, where it is necessary to know the frictional properties of materials and coatings.
The tester typically consists of a horizontal plane on which a sample of the material to be tested is placed. A sled or carriage with a known weight is then pulled across the surface at a constant speed, and the force required to move the sled is measured. Elongation measurement:
- Fill the damper with damper oil
- The damper is located behind the channel frame just below the top plate above the channel For filling oil in the damper the top sheet metal cover has to be removed and oil poured in the damper through the slot for the damper rod For taking out oil from the damper the upper back channel cover has to be removed and damper body opened out unscrewing
- Check the proper damping by moving the pendulum towards right and then releasing it
- If it returns slowly without any jerk the degree of damping is acceptable
- If, however it returns with a jerk then the level of oil in the damper is low
